Is permanent hair removal really permanent?

While there are numerous laser hair removal clinics that spruik that laser hair removal is for everyone and the results are permanent, this isn’t always the case.

As the experts in hair removal, including laser hair removal, we want to help you see beyond the marketing hype to understand what laser really does for your hair.

Hormones

Hormones can affect hair growth by stimulating the follicles. This can occur for several reasons such as pregnancy, menopause, excessive vitamin intake, medications (such as the contraceptive pill) and even polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

As part of your consultation, we will chat with you about any medication or medical conditions that could affect the success of your treatments. We always recommend if you have any medical conditions such as PCOS that you chat with your doctor before commencing laser hair removal.

The number of treatments

Did you know you have over a million dormant hair follicles? Some of our clients see great results with 1 – 3 treatments, but with so many dormant follicles, they haven’t all been targeted yet! Therefore, we recommend 6 – 8 treatments every 4 – 6 weeks to ensure we target all hair follicles as they grow.

Your hair growth

Since we are trying to remove your hair, your hair’s growth will, of course, have a big impact on the success of the treatment.

Let’s give you a quick run through of the hair growth phases; the first is Anagen (AKA the growth stage), the second is Catagen (AKA the transition or breakdown stage) and the last stage is Telogen (the rest phase). Each person’s hair goes through each stage at a different speed, and not all hairs go through each phase at the same time, which is why it is important we target your hairs every 4 – 6 weeks to target your hair follicles as they go through the anagen, or growth stage.

With so many factors influencing the results of laser hair removal we recommend you book in for your free, no-obligation laser hair removal consultation, so our experienced laser hair removal therapists can talk you through any factors that are relevant to you. You can find your closest salon here or book online.
